فكرة مشروع تصميم نظام جلوس لكبار السن
Design of Elderly People Seating System Project
تنطلق فكرة المشروع من انتشار امراض العظام و الركبة و العمود الفقري كالروماتيزيوم و الديسك التي تنتشر بشكل كبير في البحرين و بالخصوص لدى كبار السن. حيث تشير آخر احصائيات وزارة الصحة إلى أن أكثر من 27% من البحرينيين مصابون بمرض هشاشة العظام ، مما يسبب العديد من المشاكل و الصعوبات لكبار السن في أثناء عملية قيامهم من الكرسي.
و تقوم فكرة المشروع على حركتين أساسيتين و هما الإرتفاع بمسافة معينة ثم الميلان إلى الأمام ، و ذلك بهدف تقليل الحمل المرتكز على الركبة و الظهر ، مما يؤدي الى عملية وقوف سلسة و سهلة و مريحة للجسم. هذا و قد تم تصميم نظام الجلوس بحسب المعايير الإرغونومية الدولية لتحديد أبعاد الكرسي ، و زاوية الميلان و الارتفاع الذي يصل إليه.
إن أهم ما دفعنا الى تنفيذ هذا المشروع هو الجانب الإنساني ، و الذي هو جزء من رسالة المهندس و واجب من واجباته المهنية ، حيث أننا نلتمس الآلام التي يشعر بها آباؤنا و أجدادنا يوميا. كما ان النظام يمكن تطبيقه في اماكن عديدة مثل دور المسنين أو المساجد أو للنساء الحوامل . و نأمل أن يكون المشروع دفعة للمؤسسات و المراكز الصحية لتطبيق النظام و اعتماده في تصميم الكراسي المستخدمة لكبار السن.
يذكر أن المشروع، الذي أشرف عليه كل من الدكتور أنور حيدر و الدكتور محمد القصاب من قسم الهندسة الميكانيكية حصل على المركز الأول بعد تحكيم خبراء أكاديميين و آخرين من المجال الصناعي ، ضمن المشاريع المتميزة في كلية الهندسة في جامعة البحرين للفصل الدراسي الأول 2014/2015.

Design of Elderly People Seating System Project
As noticed in our daily life, that old people usually have pains in their knees, back bones, spinal columns, or some disc diseases. The idea of mechanism is to combine the conventional recliner chairs, that rotates the user to feel relaxed, and the riser armchairs that lift the user to facilitate his/her standing up. The combination is a riser-recliner seating system used for elderly people to rise the user, and tilt it to the front at the same time, in order to facilitate their standing up from the chair and to feel relax, by reducing the load on their knees and backbone.
A full design for the elderly people supporting seating system was accomplished according to the international standards, for chairs dimensions, and general ergonomics standards for the comfortable postures and positions of human body while he is standing up from a chair. The designed mechanism is featured by the low cost and high functionality, according to the feasibility study done that shows that the project can compete with the available chairs in the market.
As the project has a great bio mechanical part, it has humanistic aspect. It feels the pain of the elderly people every in their day suffer. The mechanism can be used by elderly home care; it also may be used for pregnant women, or even in mosques to be used by elderly people

The project which was supervised by Dr. Anwar Haider and Dr. Mohammed AlQassab, achieved the first place award as the best senior project in mechanical engineering department for the first semester of year 2015
